Are you in need of assistance with preparing your homestead
credit and/or your state and federal income
taxes? Are you a senior citizen
and/or have an annual gross income under $58,000? Free tax preparation assistance
is available to these qualifying individuals, with special attention to those
sixty and older. The tax preparation assistance program is aimed to help low to
moderate income taxpayers have more discretionary income for everyday
essentials, such as food and housing.
Appointments for the tax preparation assistance must be made
by calling Marshfield Area United Way at 715-384-9992. United Way will begin taking
calls for appointments starting January 6, 2013. Please note that taxes will be
prepared at a new location this year. Directions for the new location will be
given at the time of scheduling your appointment.
On the day of your scheduled appointment, please bring the
following items with you:
• A picture
ID and social security card.
• Copy of
last year’s Homestead Credit or Federal & State Tax Return
• Medical/Dental
Insurance Premium
• Pension
statements
• Any W-2’s
related to employment
• Any
1099’s related to interest and/or dividends
• SSA-1099
Social Security Benefit statement
• Property
tax bill or rent certificate
Please note if you had your Homestead Credit Tax Credit
prepared by volunteers last year, and your credit was filed electronically, you
MAY NOT receive a 2013 Homestead Credit booklet in the mail. They will be
available to you on the day of your appointment.
Tax preparation services are offered by: AARP, The City of Marshfield Parks &
Recreation Department, and Marshfield Area United Way. Volunteers are unable to
prepare farm or rental income, health savings account deductions, etc.
